You contribute to our success. Every role has an impact on our patients’ lives and you have the opportunity to make a difference. We are looking for a dedicated Respiratory Care Supervisor like you to be a part of our team.

As the Supervisory for Respiratory Care, you will be responsible for the overall operation of the department. You will orient, evaluate, and document competency of personnel. You will establish, maintain, and revise departmental policies and procedures to include departmental programs, quality control, performance improvement, and safety. You will maintain departmental expenses and productivity as budgeted. You will oversee respiratory care as delivered by the Respiratory Therapy department.

You will demonstrate competency in proper airway care including, as applicable: airway suctioning, oral and nasal airway care, cuff pressure monitoring, and extubation.

You will demonstrate competency in the performance of routine patient assessment and in the ability to correctly recognize and interpret respiratory dysfunction.

You will gain competency in new procedures that are incorporated into the department’s practices in a timely fashion.

You will assist with daily operations including, but not limited to, shift staffing, supply ordering, equipment and supply inventory, oversee rental equipment, charge capture, daily reports, employee evaluations, employee rounding, scheduling, HR disciplinary processes, annual employee competencies, blood gas documentation and clinical documentation.

St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, which is part of St. David’s HealthCare, is a 425-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility dedicated to the highest level of women’s health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. David’s Women’s Center of Texas. The facility also features a 24-hour emergency department, the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, the Bariatric Center, Heart and Vascular Center, neurology and neurosurgery, a kidney transplant program, inpatient and outpatient surgery and acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, among many others. St. David’s North Austin Medical Center is also home to St. David’s Children’s Hospital. St. David’s Surgical Hospital, which opened in October 2016, is a campus of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center.

Qualifications

Experience

Three years previous Registered Respiratory Therapist experience in an acute care setting

Two years previous Shift coordinator/Relief Charge experience in Respiratory Therapy

Education

Graduate of an American Medical Association accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Management, Business, or Respiratory Therapy – preferred

Licenses and Certifications

Current licensure in Texas as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)

Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required as per St David’s Healthcare policy

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required as per St. David’s Healthcare policy

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA)

New hires have 6 months from start date to obtain ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications
