The Details

  • Schedule: Varies – ~40+ hours per week
  • Location: Throughout Yellowstone National Park

Responsibilities

Applicants for Learning and Development will be considered for the following positions, based on skill levels and business needs:


Property Trainers
  • Responsible for the orientation and onboarding of all seasonal employees for Yellowstone National Park. Additionally, you will provide location tours and Universal Safety and Compliance Training. Qualified candidates for this position will have a strong internal guest service orientation, enthusiasm for living and working in YNP, and basic training and administrative skills. You may be department specific, such as Food and Beverage or Housekeeping, or cross-functional, serving an entire property.

Management Development Specialists
  • Provide management training and support to a wide range of seasonal managers within YNP. Qualified candidates for this position have experience with leadership, legal, and policy/procedure training as well as experience mentoring managers to build positive relationships with others within legal and company boundaries. Travel between properties is required, so all qualified candidates will have a valid driver's license.
All positions will be responsible for the following:
  • Follow all policy, procedures, and service standards.
  • Perform all duties toward the goal of providing excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
  • Work designated department management to implement season opening or annual training and follow up.
  • Maintain and project a professional demeanor while on duty and interacting with employees, managers, and guests.
  • Assist department and location management with the preparation and presentation of opening and mid-season, or annual, training packets and programs.
  • Work with new employees to ensure maximum comprehension of specific job skills and duties.

Qualifications

  • Ability to teach, motivate and develop staff members at location operations
  • Knowledge of training issues and situations faced by managers and supervisors in location operations
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to think clearly under pressure and respond accordingly
  • Ability to deal with all co-workers, guests and employees professionally with the goal of providing the best service possible
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Dependent on property, travel and overnight stays may be required
  • Must be able to work all shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Knowledge of Company policies and procedures helpful
  • Knowledge of department-specific operations helpful
  • Must be able to stand for variable amounts of time, approximately 8 hours
  • Must be able to walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods
