Substation Analyst

NH Substation Operations is responsible for a myriad of items, including capital Distribution investments, capital Transmission investments, and management of an expense budget. The Maintenance Support organization supports overall Substation Operations with maintenance engineering support, environmental engineering and compliance, budget management and analysis, asset management, and maintenance strategy.

The Substation Analyst will provide analytical support service to the department such as gathering and analyzing data and producing reports in order to provide relevant and up to date information to support decision making for the department.

THIS POSITION IS ALSO BEING POSTED AT THE SENIOR SUBSTATION ANALYST LEVEL: HOWEVER, ONLY ONE POSITION WILL ULTIMATELY BE FILLED.

Essential Functions:

  • Mine data sets from different sources to interpret, monitor, control, measure, and improve business performance.
  • Conduct business specific research and analyze data and interpret results
  • Track, manage, and provide spend analysis and year-end-projections for capital and expense budgets
  • Generate easy to interpret & measurable performance indicators based on data collected.
  • Identify best practices based on data trends and prepare summary reports & presentations.
  • Evaluate existing processes and lead new opportunities for process improvement with subject matter expert input.
  • Support CIP, PRC, and other regulatory requirement compliance.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed, as well as other duties as assigned.
  • Performs and implements special assignments as necessary.
  • Responsible for storm restoration and emergency assignments.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, statistical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with budgeting and accounting concepts.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Access, Cascade, Work Management, Powerplan, Word and Power Point, preferred.
  • Experience with building Macros is preferred
  • Experience with electrical utilities and electrical distribution systems, preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel such as pivot tables, complex formulas, charts and building functions, required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration or the equivalent in combined education and experience is required.

Experience:

  • Three to five years of related experience

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
