Grounds Maintenance Lead

Where: Poolesville, MD

Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Wage: $22.15/hr.

Work Schedule: Variable Shifts

Skookum is seeking an experienced Grounds Maintenance Lead. This individual is responsible for assigning, coordinating, and tracking employee work assignments as well as completing work orders and recording work completed for all ground maintenance activities at the site.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance of grounds up to and around industrial facilities.
Ensures grounds maintenance schedules are followed, adjusting as needed to meet contract specifications.
Assigns grounds maintenance tasks to crew members on a daily basis.
Performs on-the-job training and ensures crew members are properly trained for assigned tasks/equipment.
Safely operates grounds maintenance equipment including, but not limited to, commercial riding and walk-behind mowers, tractor with PTO mower, brush mower, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, woodchipper, chainsaw, leaf blower, pressure washer.
Operates snowplows, snow blowers, shovels, sweepers, salt spreaders, skid loaders, etc.
Coach, mentor, and address employee concerns in a respectful and mutually beneficial manner.
Acts as a positive representative of the company and maintains a professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor.
Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Facilities and Grounds Maintenance.
Must have prior team lead and/or supervisory experience.
Ability to read, interpret and apply contract specifications and maps, as well as company/department policies and procedures.
Working knowledge of common hand and power tools.
Physical Demands:
Position duties require working outside in the weather. Conditions may include rain, cold and/or heat.
Work site location can include steep inclines, such as slopes, hills, and uneven ground surfaces.
Position may require working in high places such as scaffolding, ladders, man baskets, and/or cherry pickers.
Requirements:
A Valid State Driver’s license is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance.
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
