SierTek Ltd. is seeking a Statistical and Psychology Research Support Specialist to support an opportunity at Wright Patterson, AFB, Dayton, Ohio (Remote/ Part-Time).

Position Overview

The 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW), headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is the first human-centric warfare wing to consolidate human performance research, education, and consultation under a single organization. Established under the Air Force Research Laboratory, the 711 HPW is comprised of the Airman Systems Directorate (RH) and the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM). This effort is to acquire professional, scientific, and technical support services for the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine’s Aeromedical Operational and Clinical Psychology Division (USAFSAM/FESP) to create research capabilities. This effort will provide the capability to effectively study psychological health and traits of elite performers to inform future recruitment, promotion, and retention in the Air Force, to include reviewing the professional literature, compiling and analyzing archival data to investigate the social, emotional and behavioral functioning of elite performers, and identifying implementable strategies military leaders can use to increase the recruitment and retention in high-demand occupations in the Air Force. In addition, this effort will provide information to help females better adapt to military challenges, thereby increasing the recruitment, and promotion of females within the Air Force. Services shall include scientific research design, professional update of the scientific literature, database management, data collection and statistical analysis, discussion of the results, and composition of research technical reports and presentation generation. Support shall require contractor employee to interface with USAFSAM/FESP Aeromedical staff, 711th Human Performance Wing (711th HPW) staff, and minimally with supported MAJCOM/HQ staff as needed. This effort includes tasks and activities to be performed by the employee, to support research on psychological health screening data and operational performance.

 

Essential Job Functions

Responsible for overall statistical analysis of study data in consultation with USAFSAM/FESP professional staff.

Provide customer leadership with relevant scientific literature review and data analyses, as well as participate in related discussions with USAFSAM/FESP staff.

Confer with and advise USAFSAM/FESP professional staff, regarding optimal statistical approach to analysis of psychological data, to include personality data. Perform statistical analyses of study data using descriptive and inferential statistical procedures.

Minimize any threats to the validity of the statistical products or online data repositories, as well as maintain the data in a secure fashion consistent with IRB protocol and safeguards. Maintain confidentiality of screening data, contents of technical reports, and presentation of data deemed sensitive and not releasable to the public. Complete the appropriate IRB paperwork and training requirements for conducting research.

Prepare reports of scientific/statistical results in support of scientific literature publication, in coordination with USAFSAM/FESP and 711 HPW staff. The number of professional presentations, reports, and papers shall be verified based upon the relevance of research findings, as they become available.

The employee can expect to travel, as needed, to provide professional support, customer consultations, and research presentations at line leadership meetings and professional conferences. The employee can work with USAFSAM/FESP personnel regarding personal limitations on travel scheduling. The contractor employee shall maintain communications with project personnel that facilitate teamwork; adhere to strict confidentiality and classification requirements in all forms of communication.

Responsible for data management and coordinating processes with project team members, which shall include acquisition, input, maintenance, electronic format products, and storage of all project data. The contractor employee shall assist staff in the collection of assessment data maintenance and downloading into the project database.

Provide project operations support, to include assistance with USAFSAM/FES research activities and acquisition of data in support of project goals and objectives.

Arrange, lead, oversee, and participate in research team meetings, (to include leading a weekly meeting) as needed, to ensure effective communication between research team members as related to the achievement of project research goals.

If there is an unexpected interruption in research capabilities and/or reduction in workload, the employee shall support research endeavors in support of additional USAFSAM/FESP related investigations, as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements

Possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree specializing in Research Psychology, ideally in fields of Industrial Organizational, Applied Social or Clinical psychology.

Expert knowledge with database development, gathering and organizing data supporting analyses for a wide range of analytical procedures, research report writing, and developing actionable recommendations for improving human performance based on research.

At least 5 years of experience with developing products presenting research outcomes (e.g., statistical results and interpretations), to include professional presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and/or technical reports.

Minimum of at least 5 years of experience designing and conducting statistical data analysis using software such as JMP, SPSS, R, etc.

Signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in place with their company based on the potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information.

United States citizen.

Successfully pass a Tier I background check.

Highly Desired Qualifications

Familiarity with human performance research assessing cognitive and non-cognitive areas of psychological functioning via psychological testing instruments with military personnel is desired.

Experience presenting statistical results at peer-reviewed national forums (i.e., Society of Industrial Organizational Psychology, American Psychological Association, Aerospace Medicine Association) is desired.
Experience as an author of publications in peer-reviewed journals or official USAF technical reports in behavioral science with regards to psychological health or personality data is desired.
