DESCRIPTION

Responsible for performing inspection processes for all purchased and manufactured components. Maintain records of inspection data for all incoming product and update inspection SOPs in correspondence with Quality Engineer


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verify parts received are those specified on plans prior to use in production
  • Work to resolve/correct issues with components adequately and timely
  • Maintain quality control data
  • Know and understand Weatherby products and processes
  • In concert with the Engineering Department, ensure quality from start to finish of all new and developing Weatherby products
  • Participate in system improvement and problem solving


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain measures for both in-house and vendor quality control to ensure all are operating with current specification and design criteria
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required, Associates Degree in a field related to mathematics, machining, or inspections preferred; 2-5 years' experience handling measuring equipment and following quality inspection processes
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Technical capacity
    • Ability to read, analyze and understand technical drawings, documents and specifications
    • Understanding of manufacturing systems
    • Knowledge of inspection and testing methods
    • Basic understanding of Statistics
    • Ability to read engineering drawings
    • Ability to use devices including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, heights gauges, etc
  • Microsoft Suite and strong computer skills

  • Maintain timely flow of product through the inspection area
  • Manage product related issues through final disposition in a timely manner

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This job operates in a clerical office setting, routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, this position will be exposed to the manufacturing/factory environment and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in this work environment can be loud.
