QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. Job Summary
QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, object-oriented applications using common OOP languages and Python
Working with minimal direction, provide deep technical expertise across multiple software disciplines and an understanding of systemwide implications and user needs
Perform detailed analysis, design, coding, unit and integration testing, performance benchmarking, operational integration, and ongoing user support for complex software products
Debug, configure, and maintain existing codebases and create automated tools to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline; 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment daily
Proven track record of building and supporting high-performance applications
Experience with automated testing, software development best practices, and a collaborative mindset are essential
Proficiency in Python and at least one additional object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, C#, C++, etc.)
Experience with software integration and formal testing
Strong understanding of software development best practices and ability to apply them in a multi-team environment
Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven track record of root cause analysis and issue resolution
Proven ability to mentor and motivate junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning and drives the team toward shared success
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
Self-motivated and customer-oriented
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong background supporting software engineering on DoD programs
Experience with command and control (C2) system application development
Experience with Agile software development methodologies
Experience presenting complex concepts to non-software engineers, including senior program leadership, government representatives, and military leaders
Willingness to take on unanticipated tasking
Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
Strong knowledge of Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to support Agile software development teams
Security Clearance
Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
