Position Summary: Operate a variety of machine centers within the Sawmill, Planer Mill and Kiln areas in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures

Principal Accountabilities and Deliverables
Monitor all operations of machine centers to ensure no cross ups or stoppages occur
Monitor for build up and clean when necessary
Examine lumber and make machine center adjustments as necessary
Control machine flow and speed
Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams and report malfunctions to a supervisor
Clean and align optimizers regularly
Change saws and guides as needed
Lubricate individual components as necessary
Complete production tallies, downtime tallies and daily reports as required
Participate in action planning process
Assist other operators as necessary
Keep work and surrounding area clean and free of debris
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education/Experience and Skills
6 months to 1 years of production and machines operating experience preferred
Ability to model the Rex Lumber values and to provide innovative solutions
Ability to deliver high quality, detailed, error free work on a consistent basis
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to the extent required to receive and communicate information as necessary to the position
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
Solid decision-making skills in a very fast paced environment and ability to keep up with production
Basic Mathematical Skills
Understand basic machine components and operation
Excellent eye-hand-foot coordination
Ability to work well as part of a team
Abilities
Must be able to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over a 12 plus hour shift
Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull 50 plus pounds during a 12 plus hour shift
Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch during the workday
Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for a 12 plus hour shift
Must be able to bend, stretch, twist or reach with body, arms and/or legs for 12 plus hour shift
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to dust, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. Work is performed in open areas and the employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
