Work Description/Responsibilities: Environmental Inspections of food service establishments
to prevent impacts to the City sewer system. Inspections include visual inspection of food
service establishment grease interceptors/traps, downstream sanitary sewer impacts, and
stormwater impacts; provide inspection findings and information to the food service
establishment owner/mgr, document inspection findings and photos on iPad. Need to have
ability to pull or lift sewer manholes (40 to 70 lbs), have valid driver’s license and have own
vehicle, and familiarity with iPad use. Also, some industrial pretreatment program and
wastewater treatment training will be provided.
Pay and Hours: Training period pay rate is $15 per hour plus mileage reimbursement. After
training period the inspector will work hours as they deem to conduct inspections and report to
MMS inspector supervisor. Inspection hours can be from 8:00 AM to Sunset. Inspector pay is
based on the number of inspections completed and documented on iPad each month: 1 to 20
inspections @ $26 per inspection, 21 to 40 inspections @ $28 per inspection, 41 to 60
inspections = $30 per inspection, 61 or > inspections = $33 per inspection. Inspector is
expected to complete minimum of 40 inspections per month. Inspection time range for each
facility is 30 minutes to 1 hour. Bonus pay for any sewer line issues identified.
Applicant Approval and Training: Applicant will be required to read and acknowledge the MMS
drug policy, safety policy, and FSE training manual. Equipment will be provided for inspector,
with safety shoe and work pants cost reimbursement.
