DESCRIPTION

Supervise the activities of the Mark V Value Stream to meet targets and objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. Provide leadership and direction for employee development and process improvement utilizing Lean systems and principles. Work efficiently with other departments to coordinate orders and move product through the manufacturing process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises employees and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of those employees.

  • Monitor the Production schedule produced by Supply Chain
  • Prepare work schedule for Cerakote employees to maximize throughput
  • Issue work orders and process sheets for products on the schedule
  • Work with Material Handlers and Warehousing to ensure orders are pulled and issued as needed
  • Resolve problems concerning Bill of Materials (BOMs) and availability of parts
  • Run labels with bar coded serial numbers for each receiver in the order
  • Ensure all production processes are completed and documented for each rifle
  • Oversee the operations and training to ensure efficiency and consistency
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts to avoid bottlenecks
    • Ensure productive use of time among assemblers and Cerakote
  • Monitor the maintenance of all equipment
    • Schedule maintenance for all equipment as needed
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with missing or incorrect parts and problems with equipment
    • Maintain a stock of spare parts to minimize down time
  • Process finished work orders
    • Run labels with new product code and correct serial numbers
    • Ensure orders are complete
  • Ensure the Final Assembler understands what needs to be produced and has the appropriate work orders
  • Coordinate between the Final Assembler/Accuracy Shooter(s) which rifles are to be shot for conversion to other products
    • Ensure the Assembler has the proper work orders for both barreled actions and finished rifles
  • Coordinate conversion of barreled actions to other product codes as needed to complete the finished products schedule
  • Supervise final inspection of all rifles
    • With the Inspector, resolve discrepancies
    • Provide remedial training to operators as needed due to repeat discrepancies.
  • Ensure Quality
    • Assist employees with quality issues according to quality systems
    • Escalate quality issues to quality department and follow-through with corrective measures
    • Ensure standard work procedures are followed


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Every Weatherby supervisor is required to provide a safe and effective working environment and to support the well-being of each employee through awareness, education and appropriate training of drug and alcohol issues.
  • Supervise employees, work schedules, job assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
    • Oversee employee time and attendance
    • Coach, develop, discipline, and evaluate production workers in accordance with HR policies and applicable federal and state laws
    • Initiate and facilitate interview panels, employee discipline, and performance evaluations.
    • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Provide leadership and ensure effective employee relations within the team.
    • Respond to employee needs, production issues, work availability, and other employee issues
    • Model appropriate behavior and lead by example
    • Provide honest, unbiased, and constructive feedback
    • Communicate professionally and effectively
  • Supervise safety activities in work area and throughout the value stream.
    • Monitor adherence to safety protocols by employees
    • Address safety issues as they occur
    • Assist in training employees
    • Assist employees with minor first aid
    • Fill out incident reports
    • Ensure a clean and organized work environment
    • Identify and implement solutions to potential safety problems
  • Continuous improvement projects and activities.
    • Support implementation of new equipment, procedures and processes
    • Sustain lean manufacturing tools and systems
    • Own KPI measures and progress in areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
    • Facilitate solutions of daily production issues

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, GED or minimum 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a supervisor and/or lead.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mark V Production and gunsmithing

ACCOUNTABILITIES and MEASURES

  • Ensure that the Mark V Value Stream meets the production schedule and maintains the quality standards listed in the Weatherby 10 Inspection and Test Quality Requirements.
  • Ensure Cerakote operation meets production schedule.
  • Meet objective goals assigned by the Production Manager during biannual performance coaching and weekly One-on-One sessions
