The Locksmith is a full-time, year-round position located in the Mammoth area of Yellowstone National Park. This position reports directly to the Location Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of lock systems, both mechanical and electronic.

This position does not come with company provided housing, most year round employees secure housing between Gardiner MT and Livingston MT.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of lock systems, both mechanical and electronic.
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate key inventory for the Mammoth Hot Springs, Roosevelt Lodge and Gardiner areas.
  • Accountable for the accurate documentation (in the Computerized Maintenance Management System) of labor hours expended and materials consumed.
  • Responsible for assisting Operations and Administrative departments in the development of building key plans.
  • May, on occasion, be called upon after hours to provide emergency access to buildings or rooms within buildings.
  • Responsible for compliance with Xanterra’s sustainability program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be skilled in the use of tools common to the locksmith trade.
  • Locksmith experience in the hospitality industry is preferred but general locksmith experience may suffice.
  • Must possess above average personal computer skills and be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite or office software.
  • Experience and expertise with the Onity electronic lock system is preferred. Experience and expertise with a similar electronic lock system is required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must be an effective communicator using the English language, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor related work in an outside environment.
  • Standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, for extended periods of time are required.
  • This position may require the use of respiratory protection. OSHA standards require a clean shaven face and a medical screening.

Authorities
  • Works with Maintenance personnel as well as with personnel from other departments.
  • Promotes Xanterra Company sustainability initiatives by preventing negative impacts to the environment and incorporating best management practices.
