Summary of Role
As a junior designer, you will help to support small family farms and further the organic food movement by bringing our powerful brand stories to life. In this entry-level, full-time position you will ideate, design and handle post-production on photo and video files in a dynamic creative department. You will report to the Associate Creative Director, and collaborate with various team members on social media, point of sale signage, concept presentations and photo and video projects. This role will further assist the creative and content and communications teams on projects as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
o Collaborate closely with graphic designers, video and photo team, digital content team and Associate Creative Director
o Participate in digital content planning and ideating, design marketing communications for a variety of media channels and prepare final, press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing
o Assist with video and photo production
o Provide image retouching, clipping paths and additional image manipulation
o Prepare images for digital asset management system, online and mobile applications
o Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners
o Create PDFs for print and client review
o Catalog and reference art for future projects
o Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
o Work with vendors to obtain quotes for assigned projects.
o Schedule periodic check-ins and annual review with Associate Creative Director to review performance and set goals for upcoming months and year.
o Develop proficiency with department project management software, Workamajig and Asana, and be open to training when necessary.
o Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Creative Services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
o A Bachelor’s Degree in design or other related fields including significant course work in graphic design, photography and/or videography, visual arts is preferred.
o A strong portfolio that demonstrates clear knowledge of effective design and understanding of photo composition—which can suffice in the absence of a degree.
o 1-3 years of experience as a graphic designer at an agency or in-house with a company preferred
o Proficiency with software applications such as the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
o Experience with digital content such as websites, social media, online advertising and email campaigns.
o Solid knowledge of printing processes preferred
o Strong creative problem-solving skills
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o A process-oriented self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
o Must stay up to date with new production techniques and trends through research and education.
