Position Overview

The Office of Human Resources is seeking an organized, professional and results oriented individual to serve as the Employee Engagement Director. The Employee Engagement Director will develop and implement employee engagement programs, initiatives, and strategies to improve employee engagement, retention, performance and satisfaction throughout DHS. They will modify, build, and maintain an engagement strategy that is aligned to DHS’s mission which enhances culture, motivates performance, supports the attraction and retention of high performing talent, and extends across the employee lifecycle. The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organization skills and strong leadership skills.

Job Responsibilities

Serves as the Department of Human Services (DHS) Employee Engagement Director.
Researches and implements innovative approaches for the development of culturally sensitive and results driven strategies for outreach, communication, training and management practices designed to meet the diverse needs of employees.
Develops internal employee communications including surveys, newsletters, email updates, etc. as needed to receive employee feedback.
Develops and oversees programs and services that increase employee engagement and strengthens partnerships with managers, supervisors, and other employees.
Serves as full line supervisor.
Plans, coordinates, and executes employee engagement activities and events that enhance employee morale, satisfaction, and commitment and align to the engagement strategy creating a highly engaged culture.
In collaboration with the Bureau of Staff Development, establishes employee recognition programs and strategies to acknowledge remarkable contributions and milestones by employees.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or private organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Four (4) years of professional experience working with personnel rules, code, pay plan, Comprehensive Employment Plan or similar compliance rules and regulations for a public or private organization.
Four (4) years of professional experience development and implementing policies and procedure and providing support and resources for a personnel program.
Four (4) years of professional experience overseeing a human resources program such as recruitment/hiring and transactions/classification support personnel program for a large public or private organization.
Four (4) years of professional experience communicating in oral and written form with both internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, ensuring detailed and critical analysis of work performed.
Four (4) years of professional human resources supervisory experience in a large public or private organization.
Four (4) years of professional experience identifying and developing documentation to ensure appropriate substantiation of hiring decisions are executed by a large private or public organization.
Four (4) years of professional experience developing and overseeing programs and services that increase employee engagement and strengthens partnerships with managers, supervisors and other employees for a private or public organization.
