Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Account Technician I for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois to perform specialized, technical accounting work by verifying accuracy and validity of journals, ledgers, invoices, vouchers, and other financial documents used in the business office.  Verifies transactions, prepares worksheets, closes books and takes post-closing trial balances for funds held by the Ludeman Developmental Center.  Enters financial transactions into an accounting journal and posts journal entries into a ledger.  Serves as a back-up to the Payroll Office by performing technical accounting timekeeping and payroll activities.

Job Responsibilities
Performs specialized, technical accounting work by verifying accuracy and validity of journals, ledgers, invoices, vouchers, and other financial documents used in the Ludeman Developmental Center business office.
Prepares worksheets to be reviewed by higher level accounting personnel prior to closing books for locally held funds and trust funds.
Closes books following approval by higher level accounting personnel and takes post-closing trial balances.
Posts quantities received to Release Orders to determine what items remain open.
Reviews General Revenue fund purchase orders and files them in pending alphabetical file.
Posts merchandise payments and contractual payments to ledgers and balances ledgers.
Serves as a back-up to the Payroll Office by performing technical accounting timekeeping and payroll activities.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course.
OR

Three (3) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.

Conditions of Employment
Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
