Position Overview
The Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire a professional, organized, and detail-oriented individual to serves as Investigations Bureau Chief for the Chicago Metro Region.  The Office of Inspector General investigates abuse, neglect, and mistreatment of individuals with physical, developmental, and/or intellectual disabilities. The Bureau Chief will be responsible for supervising a team of investigative and administrative staff within a geographical location and oversee investigations of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, and deaths, analyze relevant facts, and come to evidence-based conclusions. The Office of Inspector General’s goal is to ensure that individuals with disabilities are treated with respect, dignity, and care. The ideal candidate must have prior investigative experience and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
Job Responsibilities
Serves as Investigations Chief for the Chicago Metro Region.
Serves as full-line supervisor.
Evaluates, recommends, establishes, revises, and implements management procedures for the gathering and compiling of relevant data and facts concerning a full range of assessments.
Assists subordinate staff in the preparation of civil proceeding and criminal prosecution materials and reports.
Maintains confidential files pertaining to assessments for ensuring the security of all pertinent materials and information gathered in the investigatory process.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with course work in business or public administration.
Requires three (3) years progressively responsible administrative investigatory experience in a public or private organization.
Preferred Qualifications (in priority order)
Five (5) years of professional experience interviewing witnesses, collecting, and gathering data involving abuse/neglect and or malfeasance/misfeasance for a public or private organization.
Five (5) years of professional experience preparing investigative reports.
Five (5) years of professional experience in a public or private organization maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
Two (2) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff, approving time off, and preparing and signing performance evaluations.
Three (3) years of professional experience attending criminal, civil or administrative proceedings and providing expert witness testimony for investigative results and/or assessments.
Three (3) years of professional experience reviewing and recommending revisions to investigative policies and procedures.
Five (5) years of professional experience communicating in verbal or written form with both internal and external stakeholders on investigative matters.
Five (5) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.
Post-graduate degree, such as a Masters, PhD, JD, etc.
Conditions of Employment
Requires the ability to travel.
