Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Social Worker II for the Alton Mental Health Center located in Alton, Illinois. The incumbent will engage in professional social work services involving the application of social work principles and techniques in the evaluation, problem identification and treatment of forensically hospitalized adults manifesting complex emotional and psycho-social disorders. Gathers information and services to facilitate patient treatment and discharge. Serves as an advocate for the patient and as a resource for other members of the treatment team.
Job Responsibilities
Engages in professional social work services involving the application of social work principles and techniques in the evaluation, problem identification and treatment of forensically hospitalized adults manifesting complex emotional and psycho-social disorders.
Evaluates clinical problems of patients.
Serves as an advocate for the patient and as a resource for other members of the treatment team.
As part of a treatment team, identifies options for best practice treatment interventions in lieu of restraints/seclusions.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a master’s degree in social work from a recognized college or university supplemented by one (1) year of professional social work experience in the evaluation and treatment/habilitation of mentally ill, developmentally disabled or other disabled persons.
This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.
Conditions of Employment
Requires ability to conduct evaluations and implement treatment plans.
Requires ability to write clear and cohesive summaries of counseling sessions.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
