Who we are…

Muir Wood National Monument and Muir Woods Trading Company

Originally established as a national monument in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt, the park was named in honor of the revered naturalist John Muir, who declared the site was “the best tree-lover’s monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world.” In the Trading Company we provide a place for visitors to stroll and select products that have been procured honoring the legacy of John Muir. Our products reflect the conservation, sustainability and ecological identity of the site.

What you will do…

The role of a Retail Sales Associate is to complete the experience for visitors to Muir Woods National Monument and provide them with items to serve as lasting memories of the beauty of the park.

Complete an unforgettable customer experience….

· Connect with visitors and guide them through the merchandise selection.

· Provide friendly customer service by engaging with every visitor.

· Greet all visitors in a timely and engaging manner.

· Maintain sales floor presentations to best showcase our product offerings.

Be the business…

· Achieve sales goals.

· Understand and share our commitment to sustainability and providing a limited carbon footprint.

· Assist in the completion of projects while keeping the focus on the visitor experience.

· Communicating inventory needs to support the business goal.

Operations

· Ensure the sales floor is consistently stocked.

· Collaborate with management in areas of inventory management.

· Ensure the retail store is cleaned, swept and dusted on a regular basis.

· Assist in the implementation and maintenance of all merchandising/visual directives.

· Ensure the selling floor is neat, clean, always organized and reflects the correct visual image.

· Identify and communicate product concerns in a timely manner.

Qualifications

· Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

· Must adhere to scheduled shifts with punctuality.

· Ability to develop relationships with visitors and colleagues.

· Ability to handle visitor concerns positively and proactively.

· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

· Open to learn new procedures and processes.

· Strong organizational skills and follow through skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· High level of ownership, accountability, and initiative.

· Eager to develop new skills and responsive to feedback.
