Overview:

The Communications Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing internal and external communications programs across MyPath. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities and overcoming challenges to effectively communicate with key stakeholders across MyPath. The Manager collaborates with MyPath’s Operating Companies to support the employment experience and assure MyPath’s co-owners receive the information needed to excel in their roles. Other responsibilities will include developing content to help foster an employee-ownership culture and to enhance MyPath’s employment branding through the web, social media, mobile app messaging, and other uses in both written and visual formats.
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  • Coordinate communications across MyPath and its Operating Companies, promoting consistency where applicable and maintaining the highest professional standards.
  • Serve a strategic and tactical partner for senior company leaders, especially for nuanced communications affecting the whole company.
  • Guide storytelling efforts, developing compelling campaigns and content to support company-wide initiatives.
  • Create and manage content on the employee mobile app so that co-owners regularly receive useful and timely information relevant to their roles.
  • Work closely with the HR Total Rewards group to prepare and deliver relevant communications, including the annual open enrollment materials.
  • Together with the ESOP Communications Committee (ECC) and Human Resources, develop the content and manages the publication of the In Our Hands Newsletter.
  • Support operating leaders by developing and implementing communication plans for key events, announcements, or incidents.
  • Draft external communications including press releases in connection with major company milestones/initiatives/leadership changes.
  • Maintain a network of outside professional vendors in areas such as graphics design, photography, and video and audio services, that can assist in communications projects as needed.
  • Prepare minutes or other records of designated meetings and events, such as leadership calls and special events.
  • Develop and support content and materials for special events such as the Leadership Summit and Co-Owner Retreat.
  • Interview MyPath clients and/or staff to develop compelling content and arrange for photography and visual content.
  • Collaborate with MyPath’s marketing partner as needed to optimize the investment in employment branding and marketing by providing timely, specific information and feedback.
  • Creates brand-aligned social media plans and content to support applicant flow to MyPath companies.
  • Work with MyPath’s external media/crisis communications consultant to prepare statements in the event of publicity or media inquiries related to program operations.
  • Develop and deploys ways to communicate MyPath’s value proposition to external audiences.
  • Partner with Operations to develop and update website content.
  • Ensure message quality, format and content meet the stated objectives and are consistent with company strategy and communication guidelines for all production materials.
  • Continuously evaluate the company’s communications initiatives for effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Work with the CEO and Chief HR Officer to shape budgets for communications initiatives.
  • Conduct self in positive, respectful and collaborative manner in accordance with the MyPath Beliefs and Behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers maintaining professional conduct and confidentiality.
  • Complie with and positively reinforces with others the expectations outlined in: Company Handbook; policies and procedures including emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Communications preferred, equivalent experience required
  • 7+ years of broad-based marketing or communications experience that includes substantial work in the following areas: public relations, corporate communications writing, event planning, social media marketing, project management and graphic design.
  • Creative and innovative thinker with superior writing skills who can quickly understand and communicate key themes and concepts.
  • This position is a functional manager role with ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to be agile and regularly juggle competing priorities.
  • Project management experience a plus.
