MacKay Sposito is seeking a well-rounded and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team. This position will be placed at an Engineer III or above depending on experience and qualifications. As a Civil Engineer, you’ll be responsible for performing and resolving technical and complex civil engineering tasks and problems within established guidelines and applying generally known and accepted engineering standards. Preferred project experience in public works and land development roadway and utility design, including streets, water, storm and sanitary sewer system design, road plan and profiles, grading, and storm drainage calculations and analysis.

Keys to Success:

Ability to understand and resolve engineering problems and apply approved engineering methods and standards
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications or construction methods to ensure compliance to code and design requirements and safety regulations.
Meet deadlines, communicate and work effectively in a team environment, and execute complex engineering activities reliably.
Prepares engineering designs and specifications on assigned portions of a project accurately and in a timely manner.
Prepare construction cost estimates including calculating quantities and determining unit costs.
Prepare written technical reports, such as, Stormwater Drainage reports, basis of design summary reports, technical memorandums, feasibility study summaries, design exception summaries.
Review prepared plans and provide clear and concise markups and direction to CAD drafters. .
Provide analytical assessment of complex engineering data such as, design agreements, design calculations, preliminary specifications, and other technical data.
Ability to build and maintain professional co-worker, client, and community relationships.

Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Preferred 5+ years of experience in Civil Engineering; A rounded mix of public works and land development experience is a plus.
EIT Certification required, PE Certification highly preferred.
Strong aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications in Civil Engineering in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Knowledge of Army Corps of Engineers HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, WWHM2012, and/or AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary Analysis, is plus.
Knowledge of fish passage requirements, culvert design, and/or stream restoration is a plus.
Excellent computer, writing, communication and customer service skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist and work in the outdoors on uneven surfaces routinely (no more than 20 pounds).
