Intertek, a leading provider of ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification) Services, is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our Softlines team in Arlington Heights, IL.

The Softlines team performs testing on items ranging from fabric samples to finished products, including apparel, accessories, footwear, soft home furnishings, linens and outdoor products. These services help customers meet consumer demand, minimize reputational risk and reduce environmental impact, while protecting the interests of retailers, brands, manufacturers and consumers.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and qualify potential clients with the goal of setting up face to face meetings to propose engagement of service offerings based on client’s business needs. Performance of the Sales Manager in this area is a key measure of effectiveness in the position
  • Responsible for the completion of RFI's / RFP's from potential clients, including product demonstrations; liaises with overseas offices and labs in preparation of proposals; including pricing
  • Creates and delivers PowerPoint sales presentation or other media to prospect clients
  • Ensure client-specific Standard Operating Procedures, Test Protocols and Work Instructions are well-documented and communicated to Intertek’s global network of offices and labs
  • Active follow-up with clients on marketing & sales campaigns and initiatives
  • Submitting daily, weekly and monthly activity reports and communicating with management on progress of sales activities and customer insights.
  • Enhance professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to client’s needs
  • Networks with industry contacts through trade shows and industry associations

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years related experience, with direct customer interaction
  • Relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • Self-managed and responsible to project and time management
  • Strong presentation skills along with proven problem solving and negotiation abilities
  • International business exposure on consumer products as it relates to product safety and quality
  • Research and Report writing skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office; ability to create spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in terms of education, experience and/or training

Travel Requirements:

  • Expected to travel to all regions of the U.S. and Canada during the year to qualify and close leads
  • Travel is expected 2-3 times per month for this purpose
  • Periodic travel to overseas countries to meet with vendors, overseas customer sourcing offices, as well as internal workshops and conferences Travel is expected 1-2 times per year for this purpose
  • Physical dexterity/mobility to travel via car, airplane and perform all functions inherent to the position.
