DESCRIPTION

The Ballistics & Firearms Technician position will support the engineering team in ammunition and firearms manufacturing through quality testing, verification, reloading, and research and development of ammunitions and firearms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform ballistics testing for quality control of ammunition production.
  • Calibrate and maintain all test equipment.
  • Clean and maintain test firearms and components.
  • Clean and maintain shooting range and range equipment
  • Use and maintain ammunition reloading tools and supporting equipment
  • Assist in engineering research and development
    • Perform ballistics testing on existing and new cartridges
    • Perform testing on various firearm platforms for function, reliability, and accuracy
    • Maintain documentation for all testing and development


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in a technical field such as manufacturing preferred
  • Firearms and ammunition experience required

    • Strong knowledge of ammunition and its components

  • Meet objective goals assigned during quarterly performance coaching.
  • Perform duties in a timely manner and report outcomes.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to acknowledge:

The employee will be subject to prolonged standing. The employee must be able to manipulate and assemble small parts.
  • Specific vision abilities: such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Weight requirement: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 56 pounds and push/pull up to 52 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position generally operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment including computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, this position may be exposed to the manufacturing environment and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in this work environment can be loud.
