The Associate IT Support Specialist for our Web Team is responsible for assisting in providing first on-call support for supported software applications to meet business needs. In addition, when not fully occupied with on-call support, the Associate IT Support Specialist will assist with validation, maintenance and project work for supported systems. The Associate IT Support Specialist performs troubleshooting, resolution and documentation tasks when issues arise with supported systems. You may lead or participate in specific ITIL roles and processes.


Job Description

The Associate IT Support Specialist works under the direction of an experienced staff member to assist in the support and maintenance of a variety of application development systems and tools. You will apply standard operating procedures to solve problems and perform tasks and deliver results in a timely and efficient manner.

You will be on the Web team may take part in one or more facets of small project work to include analysis, design, testing, implementation and support. The Associate IT Support Specialist will begin to learn incident problem resolution, troubleshooting and on-call procedures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of an experienced staff member

  • Assist with analysis, maintenance and support of Thrivent’s Application Development systems

  • Work with team members to find solutions for reoccurring problems

  • Understand and apply standard operating procedures to meet the business needs and requirements

  • Successfully deliver the right results in a timely and effective manner

  • Perform data analysis based on business rules to determine root cause

  • Assist in proactive maintenance by completing performance tuning or decommissions

  • Provide support in IT Projects where JAVA skillsets are required

  • Use proven practices, applications, technology, tools and platforms to support and enhance daily maintenance activities

  • Once fully trained would be part of an on-call rotation

Required Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in computer science, business, mathematics or related field

  • Typically less than 2 years of applicable experience

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, business, mathematics or related field

  • Must understand installation, configuration, and troubleshooting processes for software, hardware, and networking equipment

  • Experience with Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • 2+ years of experience in technology related field

  • Typically, 3 or less years of applicable experience. Summer internship experience a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate business need into standard operating procedures

  • Flexible and able to work as part of a team or independently

  • Highly organized, attention to detail and able to multi-task

  • Demonstrates a continuous learning and continuous process improvement mindset
