Customer Service Representative - Base Supply Center

Job Summary: To assist in the operation of a Base Supply Center in compliance with AbilityOne Program, Alphapointe, federal, and military guidelines. Perform all aspects of customer service in a military retail store environment.  Communicate with customers via phone and email and process incoming orders. Assist customer with product selection and perform cashier related duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Receive payment for goods purchased in the form of Government Purchase Card or other authorized form of payment.
  • Build relationships and trust with customer accounts through open and interactive communication.
  • Assist customers by answering product questions and suggesting information about other products and services.
  • Provide tracking and status on outstanding orders.
  • Maintain transaction records and register reconciliation documentation.
  • Operate cash register with peripheral electronic data processing equipment
  • Inventory, store, price, and restock merchandise displays.
  • Assist customers in the selection of required uniform, deployment and tactical gear products.
  • Set up advertising signs and display merchandise on shelves, counters, or tables to attract customers and promote sales.
  • Clean display cases, shelves, and aisles.

Additional Functions:

  • Operate material handling equipment to include pallet jacks.
  • Assist with clerical duties and routine office functions as required.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the Asst. Store Manager.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior work experience within a retail store preferred.
  • Ability to operate computerized cash registers and related equipment.
  • General knowledge of office equipment and machines, including computer terminal and desktop computer.
  • Ability to deal pleasantly and courteously with management, customers, and co-workers, by telephone, written correspondence, and in person.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
