Job Summary: Responsible for designing and developing processes and activities to drive improvement. Creates specifications, establishes manufacturing control plans, and develops processes. Responsible for improving the molding processes through continuous improvement by training and coaching the molding team. Must also manage and train plastics staff to ensure efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction. Maintains a safe productive work environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Functional knowledge of injection molding machines
  • Functional knowledge of blow molding machines
  • Maintains a positive work environment conducive to regular factory experience for all workers assigned to the department.
  • Establishes and maintains high standards for quality for all items produced in the department.
  • Develop scientifically based processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing for capability issues, technical improvements, and daily processing activities.
  • Operate auxiliary equipment to support molding operation such as mold temperature control units, grinders, robots, and pickers.
  • Lead and/or participate on teams to help achieve operational goals
  • Drive molding process improvements to include cycle time efficiencies, cavitation, scrap reduction, and establishment of optimal processing parameters.
  • Support process improvement, reduction of downtime, cost reduction, and corrective action
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of all equipment in the department.
  • Assist in the set-up, repair, and troubleshooting of molding equipment.
  • Working knowledge of statistical data
    Familiar with GMP and ISO guidelines

    • Research and develop new manufacturing processes
    • Interact with customers, suppliers, and internal resources
    • Establish the parameters for an optimal molding environment
    • Ensure the environment meets all safety requirements
    • Review existing validation reports and develop improvements plans
    • Operate hot/cold runner molds

Additional Functions:

  • Assist in physical inventories

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Engineering degree required
  • Experience with the installation and setup of tools into molding machines
  • Ability to problem solve machine systems and auxiliary equipment
  • Injection Plastics Molding certification preferred
  • Required minimum 2 years’ experience in plastics molding industry.
  • Ability to work in a loud, manufacturing environment
