Tactical Satcom Advisor / Consultant

Website Aerospace Technical Group

We certify the experts!

About the role
Aerospace Technical Group is building a standing panel of Satellite Communications (SATCOM) subject matter experts to support the credibility and technical accuracy of our Tactical SATCOM Specialist (TSS) training and credentialing program. Panel members are recognized experts who lend their name and judgment to our program and are engaged, on a paid contract basis, for specific advisory activities throughout the year.

This is not a full-time position. It is an ongoing advisory relationship: we call on you when we need expert input, you accept the engagements that fit your schedule, and you are compensated for the work you do.

What panel members do

  • Serve on expert review panels that validate course content, learning objectives, and credential standards.
  • Review draft instructional materials — textbook chapters, course figures and diagrams, and assessment items — for technical accuracy.
  • Complete subject-matter surveys and job-task analyses used to keep the curriculum aligned with real-world SATCOM practice.
  • Provide occasional written expert opinion on specific technical questions.
  • Consent to be listed by name, title, and credentials as a member of the SATCOM SME Panel.

Who we're looking for
We welcome experts from any of the following backgrounds. You do not need all of them — depth in one area is enough.

  • Military / DoD SATCOM operations — tactical SATCOM operators, planners, or managers (e.g., WGS, MUOS, DSCS experience; relevant MOS/AFSC/rating).
  • Industry & engineering — commercial satellite, RF/communications engineering, ground systems, teleport or network operations.
  • Instruction & academia — experience teaching SATCOM or communications, developing curriculum, or building assessments; instructional credentials a plus.

Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on SATCOM experience in one or more of the areas above.
  • Ability to review technical material critically and explain issues clearly in writing.
  • U.S.-based and eligible to work as an independent contractor.

How to apply
Send a brief note of interest, a current résumé or CV, and your desired consulting hourly rate to [email protected]. We may follow up with a short screening questionnaire and a conversation. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Applicants must apply directly, on their own behalf; submissions made through or by an agency or recruiter will not be considered.

Aerospace Technical Group does not work with staffing agencies, recruiters, or third-party placement firms for this role, and is not accepting agency or recruiter submissions of any kind. Unsolicited résumés, candidate profiles, or applications sent to Aerospace Technical Group or any of its employees by an agency, recruiter, or other third party — whether by email, mail, or any other means — will be treated as the property of Aerospace Technical Group, free of any fee, commission, or other obligation. No such submission creates, and will not be deemed to create, any contract, agency relationship, or payment obligation of any kind.
