POSITION PURPOSE


The Graphic Design program in the School of Humanities and Fine Arts is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach one section of Web and App Design in the Spring 2019 semester. The successful candidate will hold at least a master's degree in graphic design or a related field, as well as teaching experience at the undergraduate level and professional experience with designing websites and/or apps. As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio of their work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Teach undergraduate course in web and app design.
  • Work with full-time faculty and dean to understand and employ activities that meet course learning objectives.
  • Administer and/or develop coursework (assignments, projects, in-class learning activities, exams) that meets and assesses course learning objectives.
  • Hold regular office hours on a weekly basis.
  • Respond in a timely manner to calls or emails from students, colleagues, or supervisors.
  • Use university technology as directed.


SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & SKILLS

  • Master's degree MFA preferred in either graphic design or a field related to art or graphic design.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Professional experience designing websites and/or apps.
  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator required; knowledge of Adobe XD, Dreamweaver, HTML, and CSS a plus.
  • Knowledge of User Experience (UX) design, User Interface (UI) design, user testing, and the web/app design process.
  • Knowledge of motion graphics, animation, Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects a plus.

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
