Summary
The Access - A- Ride Road Supervisor is responsible for field-level oversight of transportation operations to ensure safe, timely, and compliant service delivery. This position involves real-time monitoring of drivers and fleet activity, responding to road incidents, and utilizing telematics and dispatch systems such as Samsara and Autofleet to support efficient operations.
Responsibilities
The Road Supervisor will be responsible for:
Monitoring and coaching drivers on performance and safety
Responding to breakdowns, incidents, and customer complaints
Coordinating with dispatch and fleet maintenance
Ensuring compliance with DOT, DMV, and Article 19-A regulations
Managing on-the-road operations using Samsara and Autofleet
Essential Duties
Use Samsara for real-time vehicle monitoring, driver behavior tracking, and incident alerts
Use Autofleet to manage fleet deployment, adjust schedules, and optimize routing
Conduct field evaluations, road checks, and ride-alongs
Assist with daily pull-outs and end-of-day pull-ins
Respond to road emergencies, accidents, and service interruptions
Communicate with dispatchers, drivers, and maintenance to resolve issues quickly
Document service disruptions, incidents, and field observations
Provide on-the-spot coaching and guidance to drivers
Non-Essential Duties
Support training initiatives for new drivers
Participate in internal audits or reporting initiatives
Assist with random drug/alcohol testing, if certified
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct supervisory authority, but serves as a field-level leadership presence
Provides feedback, reports, and recommendations to the Operations and HR teams
May assist in directing driver actions in the field
Required Skills & QualificationsEducation and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 2 years of experience in transit, logistics, or fleet operations
Prior experience as a dispatcher, driver, or road supervisor preferred
Valid CDL (Class B with Passenger and Air Brakes endorsements) strongly preferred
Technical and Computer Skills
Proficiency in Samsara and Autofleet or similar fleet telematics and optimization platforms
Familiarity with tablets, radio communication devices, and dispatch systems
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and mobile applications
Language Skills
Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin) are a plus
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of NYC Department of Transportation and TLC guidelines
Training or certification in DOT safety or Article 19-A compliance
Experience in incident management and on-road decision-making
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to de-escalate tense situations
