SierTeK Ltd. is seeking a Molecular Biologist to support an opportunity at Wright Patterson AFB, OH.

POSITION OVERVIEW SECTION

The employee will provide laboratory, technical, and research support to biomedical and public health scientists in the development and execution of research initiatives related to aeromedical risk. Responsibilities include molecular biology techniques, genomic analysis, environmental sampling, and supporting scientific documentation and regulatory processes.

Essential Job Functions

Laboratory & Experimental Support

Assist biological and medical scientists in laboratories, et up, operate, and maintain lab instruments and equipment.
Monitor experiments, record data, and analyze results in coordination with scientists.
Perform environmental sampling (e.g., wastewater, air, soil), handling, and processing of samples.
Molecular Biology & Genomic Testing

Perform DNA extraction, PCR, microarray genotyping, and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
Utilize sequencing platforms such as Illumina and Oxford Nanopore for sample processing and library preparation.
Assist with optimizing and executing genetic testing protocols relevant to aeromedical risk.
Research & Scientific Writing

Review scientific literature to support ongoing research.
Assist in designing experiments, protocol training, and conducting data analysis.
Contribute to writing and editing research proposals, reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
Regulatory & Administrative Support

Assist in preparing and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Biosafety Committee documentation.
Support the development of project-related reports and documentation under the direction of PHT staff.
Maintain general laboratory functionality including waste management and cleanliness.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements

Education & ExperienceMaster's degree in Biological Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
At least 1–2 years of experience in a public health-related laboratory environment.
Technical CompetenciesProficient in core biology techniques including microscopy, cell culture, DNA/RNA prep, PCR, and sequencing.
Experience with Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing technologies and associated library prep protocols.
Experience with environmental sample collection (wastewater, soil, air).
ComplianceMust have a signed NDA on file with employer and provided to the Program Manager to protect confidential or sensitive information.
Highly Desired Qualifications:

At least 2 years of laboratory experience, particularly in a biomedical or public health setting.
