SierTek Ltd. is seeking a Test Engineer (Intermediate) to support an opportunity remotely, with a preference for candidates based out of Dayton, OH or the Washington DC area.

Position Overview:

The Test Engineer will work remotely and closely with the Appian development team and business analysts to write and execute automated test cases for Appian applications. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in software testing, experience with automated testing tools, and a good understanding of Appian or other Business Process Management (BPM) platforms. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Functions

Collaborate with the Appian development team and business analysts to understand application requirements and functionality.
Participate in the development of test plans and strategies to ensure effective testing of Appian applications.
Identify and prioritize test cases based on risk and impact.
Ensure that testing activities are aligned with project timelines and deliverables.
Execute automated test cases and analyze the results to identify defects and issues.
Document and report defects, working closely with the development team to resolve them.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and project managers, to ensure alignment and effective communication.

Competencies

Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Fitnesse, Selenium, Junit)
Familiarity with Appian or other BPM platforms.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify, document, and track defects effectively.
Attention to detail and accuracy in testing and reporting.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to navigate BA Workflow, Agile Scrum, and Project Management tools (Jira, MS Project, Visio, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Business Process / Rules repositories).
Proven understanding and application of Waterfall, Agile Scrum, and Kanban software development methodologies.
Minimum Position Requirements

US Citizenship- candidates being considered for a Public Sector roles must be a U.S. citizen
Has more than 5 years of experience and a BA/BS or MA/MS degree.
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
2-4 years of experience in software testing, including experience with automated testing.
Familiarity with Appian or other BPM platforms.
Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
