About the Opportunity:

The Facilities Health & Safety Specialist will be responsible for conducting safety training, perform safety inspections, update logs and records related to safety inspections, perform or schedule routine maintenance on production equipment and facility. Assign and audit maintenance of equipment and facility.  This position is located in Scotts Valley, CA at our X-Ray Technology site.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

Provide a positive, proactive attitude toward implementing annual strategies, including continuous improvement, and other identified and communicated quality-oriented objectives.
Interact with engineering department as needed on new products and engineering tests concerning new equipment and premises requirements.
Participate in the specification, design, and implementation of manufacturing equipment, including technician training if necessary.
Maintain facilities and equipment, performing prtative maintenance and repairs as necessary.
Act as the safety officer for the organization, performing regular safety audits, and leading for a overall safe working environment.
Prepare for, coordinate, and support inspections by local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
Conduct monthly safety inspections of fire extinguishers and fire safety equipment, hazmat, and radiation emitting systems within the facility.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to report findings and maintain clear records.
Correct, update, and maintain databases and other written/electronic logs and records related to safety inspections.
Conduct basic inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with fire and life safety standards.
Investigate, address, and track environmental complaints, violations, and incidents. Provide guidance and support for environmental impact assessments, and permit applications.
Participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses and property damage incidents. Ensure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and proper records/documents are maintained.
Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures and practices.
Participate in manufacturing meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with Operations, Managers, Supervisors, and employees.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with State and Federal environmental regulations and laws.
Educate and train employees, contractors, and other stakeholders on environmental issues and best practices.
About the Candidate:

The right candidate will have 1 – 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety; experience working within a Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) and an understanding of the value; and BS or AS degree in electronics, or equivalent practical experience with maintaining modern manufacturing systems.

 

Additional requirements:

Experience troubleshooting in a variety of areas – mechanical, electrical, structural
Ability to take necessary steps to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
Understanding and experience safely maintaining and repairing equipment using explosive gasses, high voltages, and radiation.
Proven ability to work well and productively with all employees
A good memory for discussion of previous projects and adaptations
Salary: In accordance with California law, the expected annual salary range for this position is between $62,000 - $72,000.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
